Devin Banks Receives F31 Grant from NIDA

We are pleased to announce that our graduate student, Devin Banks, has been awarded an F31 Ruth L. Kirschstein Pre-doctoral Fellowship from the National Institute of Drug Abuse.

This highly competitive grant will support the rest of Devin's training and allow her to further pursue her program of research examining concurrent use of substances such as alcohol and marijuana among adolescents. Her project is entitled Concurrent Substance Use and Related Problems among African American Adolescents: A Daily Diary Study and Qualitative Investigation. Please help us congratulate Devin on this prestigious award!

Our senior undergraduate assistant, Micah, has been recognized with another grant to fund his research! This time, the funding come from Psi Chi, the international honor society for psychology students. Micah was awarded the Mamie Phipps Clark Research Grant, which provides funds for projects focused on diversity issues. Micah's proposal, entitled “Race-Based Stress, Self-Compassion, Psychological Distress, and Substance Use Among College-Age African Americans,” was not only funded, but scored in the top 11 of applications overall! Congratulations, Micah.
